Medical Lab Assistant

Location: Wood Dale, IL

Pay Rate: $18.00 per hour + shift differential ($1.50 per hour for 3rd shift)

Employment Type: Contingent with potential pathway for hire

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 11:30pm-8:00am

As a Medical Lab Assistant, you provide essential support to laboratory operations by ensuring specimens are properly processed, tracked, and prepared for testing. Your attention to detail and commitment to quality help maintain efficient workflows and accurate diagnostic results.

What You'll Do

• Sort, receive, and process incoming specimens within the laboratory
• Centrifuge specimens, print labels, and perform specimen storage and retrieval activities
• Prepare specimens for testing, including aliquoting samples, building worklists, and slide preparation
• Perform routine instrument maintenance on designated laboratory equipment
• Prepare reagents and media as required
• Monitor quality assurance and quality control activities as assigned
• Resolve pending specimen lists and locate missing samples
• Maintain departmental records and documentation
• Decontaminate work areas and properly dispose of biohazardous materials
• Utilize laboratory computer systems and standard PC applications to support daily operations
• Follow all PPE requirements and laboratory safety regulations

What We're Looking For

• A current, up-to-date resume
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Medical assistant training helpful
• Math and science coursework preferred
• Ability to establish priorities and manage multiple tasks efficiently
• Strong attention to detail and ability to retain learned information
• Ability to work collaboratively and communicate professionally with coworkers and customers
• Basic computer and data entry skills
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced laboratory environment
• Ability to meet compliance requirements
• Must be eligible and provide proof of eligibility to work in the US
