Facilities Maintenance Technician

Our client, is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Technician to join their team. As a Facilities Maintenance Technician, you will be part of the Facilities/Department of Facilities supporting campus operations. The ideal candidate will have hands-on trade skills, a strong commitment to safety, and the ability to respond quickly and accurately to maintenance needs, which will align successfully in the organization.

Job Title: Facilities Maintenance Technician

Location: Waukegan, IL

Pay Range: $23.39/hour

Shift: First shift, 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, Monday through Friday

What's the Job?

• Perform corrective and general/preventive maintenance as directed by assigned work orders, following all applicable procedures and safety practices.
• Use maintenance checklists to identify required maintenance or repair needs and complete work orders accurately.
• Handle general maintenance tasks such as painting, concrete repairs, and other facility upkeep duties.
• Complete electrical, plumbing, welding, carpentry, and hydraulic repairs as needed to keep equipment and spaces operating properly.
• Assist with snow removal and respond to after-hours and emergency maintenance situations, including maintaining required maintenance logs and documentation.

What's Needed?

• High School Diploma or equivalent, plus a minimum of three (3) years of related experience in one or more trades (carpentry, electrical, plumbing) and preventive maintenance.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to push, pull, lift, and carry up to 70 lbs. regularly, and over 70 lbs. occasionally, and maneuver in tight spaces around machinery.
• Ability to continuously walk or stand, with frequent bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, and twisting; occasional sitting; and ability to work on lifts or ladders with or without reasonable accommodations.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and read/interpret technical manuals.
