Maintenance Worker Crew Member

Our client is seeking a Maintenance Worker Crew Member to join their team. As a Maintenance Worker Crew Member, you will be part of the water distribution maintenance crew supporting day-to-day upkeep of the water distribution system, equipment, and facilities. The ideal candidate will bring a strong safety mindset, dependable follow-through, and the ability to respond professionally to customer needs—while working effectively with a crew under moderate supervision.

Job Title: Maintenance Worker Crew Member

Location: Morgantown, WV

Pay Range: $17-18 based on experience

Shift: Week day w/ on-call rotation

What's the Job?

• Install, repair, and maintain water mains, valves, lateral water lines, blowoffs, water services, pumps, reservoirs, hydrants, and meters; lay and align pipe and complete hookups.
• Perform excavation-related work including backfilling; flush and test installations in accordance with established procedures.
• Read and record meter consumption; maintain proper meter documentation; conduct and document flow and pressure testing for static pressure and water volume at a hydrant, meter, or residence.
• Maintain and repair infrastructure by changing defective or suspect meter-heads, overhauling and repairing fire hydrants, locating and repairing leaks, and addressing safety or security deficiencies.
• Respond to customer complaints and inquiries in a courteous and timely manner; when necessary, refer public inquiries to a supervisor.

What's Needed?

• Ability to perform maintenance work in compliance with all federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations, and within mandated safety standards.
• Experience or comfort with water system maintenance tasks such as meter maintenance, leak repair, hydrant repairs, and installation/repair support.
• Strong attention to documentation and procedures, including meter records and testing documentation.
• Willingness to manage delinquent accounts when notified by the office, including contacting the customer, shutting off water, and locking or removing the meter as necessary.
• Ability to support emergency call-outs for leak repairs and participate in on-call rotation; MVR driving record required.
