Our client, in Clare, MI is seeking a Machinist to join their team. As a Machinist, you will be part of the Machine Shop supporting production and quality efforts. The ideal candidate will have strong machine setup and operation skills, a commitment to safety and quality, and the ability to read and interpret blueprints to produce parts that meet engineering and customer specifications.

Pay Range:
Machinist 1 - $19 - $23 an hour

Shift: 4 pm - 2 am

What's the Job?

  • Set up and operate conventional, CNC, and special purpose machining centers to fabricate metallic and nonmetallic parts.
  • Perform machine setup and machining tasks including milling, boring, drilling, tapping, threading, and lathes, with support from Machinist 1 on most occasions.
  • Read, interpret, and utilize blueprints, work orders, and QC packets to complete work accurately.
  • Verify work using machinist measurement tools such as calipers and micrometers, and maintain tight tolerances per engineering and customer requirements.
  • Deburr parts, ensure quality checks are completed prior to the next operation, and support the quality system and continuous improvement efforts.

What's Needed?

  • Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or 6 months to 1 year related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to set up and use machine equipment (including CNC) and perform periodic maintenance on machine shop equipment.
  • Experience reading and using blueprints, work orders, and QC packets to produce parts to specification.
  • Proficiency with machinist measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, etc.) and a strong focus on meeting tolerances.
  • Comfort working with CNC programming concepts, including use of G&M codes and conversational programming languages (with training from Machinist 2).
