Crane and Forklift Dock Operator

Our client, an industry leader in logistics and cargo handling, is seeking a dedicated Crane and Forklift Dock Operator to join their team. As a Crane and Forklift Dock Operator, you will be an essential part of the dock operations supporting cargo movement and safety. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a proactive approach, which will align successfully in the organization.

Job Title: Crane and Forklift Dock Operator

Location: Mechanicsville, VA

Pay Range: $20.00

Shift: 7AM-3:30PM Monday - Friday

What's the Job?

• Operate heavy equipment such as cranes, forklifts, and pallet jacks to load, unload, and move cargo efficiently and safely.
• Plan and execute lifts using load charts and calculations to ensure proper weight distribution and secure attachment of cargo.
• Perform daily safety inspections on cranes and lifting gear, reporting any defects or malfunctions promptly.
• Follow safety protocols in compliance with OSHA, DOT, and other regulations, using radio or hand signals to coordinate with ground crew.
• Secure cargo with straps, chains, and other securing devices to prevent shifting during transport and maintain organized dock areas.

What's Needed?

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Forklift certification; crane operator certification if applicable.
• Valid driver’s license, often for shunt trucks or forklifts.
• Physical ability to lift heavy objects, work in extreme temperatures, and stand for long periods.
• Strong hand-eye coordination, spatial awareness, attention to detail, and the ability to follow instructions.
