Yard Dog Operator - 1st Shift

Our client, logistics and transportation operations is seeking a Yard Dog Operator - 1st Shift to join their team. As a Yard Dog Operator - 1st Shift, you will be part of the yard operations team supporting safe, efficient trailer movement for shipping and receiving. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to safety, clear communication skills, and the ability to stay organized in a fast-paced logistics environment, which will align successfully in the organization.

Job Title: Yard Dog Operator - 1st Shift

Location: Moncks Corner, SC

Pay Range: $20

Shift: 1st Shift (6am - 4:30pm)

What's the Job?

• Safely operate a yard tractor (spotter truck) to move trailers throughout the facility yard and designated dock areas.
• Position trailers at loading and unloading docks according to operational schedules and customer requirements.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of yard equipment and report mechanical issues promptly.
• Verify trailer numbers, seal numbers, and locations to maintain accurate yard inventory.
• Organize and stage trailers to maximize yard efficiency and minimize delays, while following all company safety policies and facility procedures.

What's Needed?

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Previous yard jockey, spotter, warehouse, logistics, or transportation experience preferred.
• Experience operating a yard tractor, terminal tractor, or similar heavy equipment preferred.
• Ability to work in various weather conditions and outdoor environments.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety, with effective communication skills for drivers, warehouse staff, and supervisors.
