Our client, an advanced autonomous transportation organization, is seeking a Plant Issue Resolution Engineer - Body & Closure Systems to join their team. As a Plant Issue Resolution Engineer - Body & Closure Systems, you will be part of the Vehicle Development department supporting Trim & Lighting, Fleet Support Engineering, and Sustaining Team. The ideal candidate will have a strong sense of urgency, the ability to lead cross-functional problem solving, and the technical depth to drive root cause analysis and durable corrective actions.

Job Title: Plant Issue Resolution Engineer - Body & Closure Systems

Location: Hayward, CA

Pay Range: $70-$75/hour + Benefits

What's the Job?

  • Lead triage, containment, and resolution planning for issues identified during general assembly and end-of-line testing across door systems, latches, actuators, sealing, access panels, glazing, and body structures.
  • Define and execute short-term containment actions, including rework plans, part quarantine, and build flow protection to keep production moving.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to lead root cause analysis across design, process, supplier, and manufacturing domains, identify blockers, and drive Design for Manufacturing (DFM) improvements.
  • Support cross-functional teams in implementing permanent corrective actions (PCA) and preventing recurrence through disciplined follow-through.
  • Support prototype builds, production trials, and engineering changes to validate fixes and improve manufacturability.

What's Needed?

  • B.S. or M.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field.
  • 6-8 years of experience in automotive OEMs, robotics, aviation, or other complex hardware systems within manufacturing, product engineering, or sustaining environments.
  • Strong understanding of vehicle body & closure systems, including door systems, latches, actuators, sealing, access panels, glazing, and body structures.
  • Proven experience leading root cause analysis and corrective actions in production, manufacturing, or field environments, including new product launch support.
  • Strong cross-functional communication and problem-solving skills with the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment.
