Are you a detail-oriented technical professional with maintenance experience and a passion for creating clear, effective documentation? We are seeking a Technical Writer I to support maintenance operations by developing, reviewing, and improving technical documentation used in a dynamic industrial environment. This role plays a critical part in ensuring maintenance procedures are accurate, standardized, and aligned with operational best practices. Ideal for candidates who enjoy collaborating with technical teams and making a direct impact on reliability and maintenance performance.
What’s the Job?
🔧 Develop, review, update, and maintain technical documentation, including user manuals, guides, preventive maintenance work orders, and job plans.
🔧 Create and revise documentation within the Maximo CMMS platform.
🔧 Review maintenance instructions against OEM manuals and technical specifications to ensure accuracy and compliance.
🔧 Validate labor estimates, task sequencing, and job steps to reflect actual field execution and operational standards.
🔧 Standardize documentation to align with OEM procedures, internal standards, and documentation best practices.
🔧 Produce clear, structured, and user-friendly technical content to improve maintenance efficiency and usability.
🔧 Collaborate with maintenance technicians, supervisors, reliability engineers, and cross-functional teams to gather information and validate documentation updates.
🔧 Support document control, configuration management, and data entry activities within Maximo.
🔧 Document technical activities and prepare detailed reports.
🔧 Ensure consistency, accuracy, clarity, and formatting quality across all technical content.
What’s Needed?
✅ Minimum 3 years of maintenance experience in an industrial, manufacturing, or similar environment.
✅ Ability to read and interpret OEM manuals, technical drawings, schematics, and specifications.
✅ Familiarity with Maximo or other CMMS platforms preferred.
✅ Strong technical writing and written communication skills.
✅ Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PDF editing tools.
✅ Strong attention to detail with a focus on documentation accuracy and consistency.
✅ Ability to work within industrial environments, including climbing ladders and stairs, bending, twisting, and accessing elevated or confined spaces while following PPE and safety requirements.
✅ Willingness to work overtime, weekends, alternate shifts, or split shifts as needed.
⭐ Trade certification or Associate Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Maintenance preferred.
⭐ Experience supporting CMMS improvements, upgrades, or PM program standardization preferred.
⭐ Knowledge of Lean Maintenance, Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM), or similar methodologies preferred.
