Hospital Specimen Technician

Pay Rate: $17.75 - $20.43 per hour (based on experience)

Employment Type: Contingent with potential pathway for hire

Schedule: 8:00am-5:00pm

What You'll Do

• Perform specimen processing and pre-analytical procedures accurately and efficiently
• Support test send-out activities, specimen preparation, and accessioning processes
• Demonstrate proficiency with test ordering policies, specimen requirements, and compliance standards
• Utilize hospital laboratory information systems (LIS) and client-specific systems
• Print laboratory testing reports and interpret specimen tracking and workflow reports
• Perform supply inventory monitoring and ordering activities
• Troubleshoot specimen issues, missing information, test requests, and client inquiries
• Serve as a liaison between hospital staff and laboratory teams to support effective communication and problem resolution
• Manage inbound calls and provide exceptional customer service
• Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to quality, safety, and compliance procedures

What We're Looking For

• A current, up-to-date resume
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• 1-3 years of related work experience required
• Medical background and knowledge of medical terminology preferred
• Previous hospital laboratory experience preferred
• Strong data entry skills with the ability to enter 6,000 alphanumeric keystrokes per hour
• Experience working with laboratory information systems (LIS) preferred
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
• Strong communication, collaboration, customer service, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced production environment
• Ability to sit or stand for extended periods and work safely in a biohazard environment
• Must be able to obtain and maintain any required hospital credentialing for site access
• Ability to meet compliance requirements
• Must be eligible and provide proof of eligibility to work in the US
