Material Handler

Our client, a leading manufacturing organization specializing in metal processing and precision machining, is seeking a dedicated Material Handler to join their team. As a Material Handler, you will be an essential part of the production support team, ensuring smooth operations and maintaining high standards of safety and efficiency. The ideal candidate will have previous forklift skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach, which will align successfully within the organization.

Job Title: Material Handler

Location: Altavista, VA

Pay Range:$17.00 an hour 

Shift: 1st Shift, 7am-3pm Monday through Saturday 

What's the Job?

• Efficiently operate centrifuges to separate oil and water from brass, aluminum, and metal chips.
• Load chips into trailers and operate the Oberlin oil filtration system.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance on parts washers and centrifuges.
• Operate tow motors, forklifts, and overhead cranes safely and effectively.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring safety and efficiency standards are met.

What's Needed?

• Ability to sit or stand at a production station for 8 hours.
• Proficiency in safely operating tow motors, forklifts, and overhead cranes.
• Ability to lift 35 lbs or more and maneuver heavier weights with assistance.
• Computer literacy and ability to type on a keyboard.
• Strong math skills and previous experience in shipping/receiving is preferred.
• Ability to pass background check and drug screen
