Our client, a leading material manufacturing organization, is seeking an Automation Engineer - Rolling Mill to join their team in Vidor, Texas. As an Automation Engineer - Rolling Mill, you will be part of the automation and continuous improvement effort, supporting the plant’s electrical and process automation systems. This role is a chance to drive meaningful change—turning best practices into measurable results, coaching teams on automation technologies, and helping the operation run more efficiently and effectively.

Location: Vidor, Texas

Pay Range:$95000 - $110000

What's the Job?

  • Partner with process engineers, supervisors, and plant management to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of electrical and process automation systems.
  • Lead continuous improvement and integration of improvement principles by identifying best practices and acting as a change agent for the assigned location.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, products, and production performance within the automation scope.
  • Develop, implement, and adjust standards, structures, systems, and equipment to support improvement goals.
  • Coordinate improvement activities with superintendents, supervisors, and staff across the steelmaking process area, while supporting automation technology training and development.

What's Needed?

  • Four-year college degree in Engineering (Electrical or Electronic preferred) and 5+ years of industrial or manufacturing experience with advanced process and factory automation exposure.
  • Extensive knowledge of steel manufacturing methods, including heavy mill machinery and related equipment.
  • Direct experience with steelmaking and production areas such as scrap processing, melting, casting/caster operations, rolling, maintenance, finishing, and shipping/warehouse operations.
  • Strong understanding of business systems and the ability to apply complex technical and engineering processes to drive improvement.
  • Ability to train and coach employees, with solid presentation, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
