Product Engineering Specialist

With over 60 years of experience in the Alberta marketplace, Manpower specializes in matching great talent with great companies. In tandem with our client, Manpower is seeking a Product Engineering Specialist, to fulfill a temporary contract in Edmonton.

This role is responsible for pre-order and post order product engineering on multiple concurrent projects which includes new, custom and customized low and medium voltage power distribution products.

In this role you will:

* Performs product design to meet client and applicable industry standards, customer requirements and production criteria

* Accurately prepare and reviews mechanical/electrical engineering documents for approval, confirmation, construction, manufacturing and as-built stages

* Creates AutoCAD drawings and uses 3D modelling to design mechanical components and assemblies

* Creates item masters, Bill of Material (BOM) and routing for new parts

* Conducts interim and final product inspections

* Maintains commercial and technical accountability for assigned projects

* Provides technical and engineering support to production, marketing, sales, field service, warranty administrator and customers

* Provides training to production and engineering on new design assemblies

* Drives quality, standardization, cycle time reduction, cost reduction and on-time performance

* Perform all job functions with adherence to the clients' philosophy and values, as well as safety and environmental standards

* Other duties as assigned

To be successful in this role, you will have:

* Post-secondary degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering

* Minimum 3 - 5 years manufacturing experience

* P.Eng preferred

* Previous experience with Oracle or SAP manufacturing systems

* Legally authorized to work in Canada without company sponsorship

* Understanding of industry standards (IEEE/ANSI, CSA)

* Competency in MS-Office, AutoCAD Mechanical and Inventor (or equivalent)

* Proven CNC programming skills

* Self-motivated, energetic and capable of working in a fast paced team environment

* Effective time management, prioritization and project management skills;

* Strong organizational and interpersonal skills

* Strong analytical aptitude and complex problem solving skills

* Understanding of Lean manufacturing concepts would be an asset

* Prior negotiation and marketing experience would be an asset

* Strong verbal and written communication skills

* Bilingual (English/French) preferred
