Job Description

Manufacturing Manager - permanent job opportunity with a leading cosmetic manufacturing company located in Toronto


The Manufacturing Manager directs and manages all manufacturing operations with overall responsibilities for production, machine and facilities maintenance, and other production-related activities. This role is expected to plan, analyze, and optimize production process all while ensuring that production proceeds efficiently and on time, while maintaining the highest level of quality.

Strong communication skills, a proactive and hands-on management approach, and a desire for operational excellence are all necessary to succeed in this role.


Direct and manage plant operations for production and maintenance engineering

Maximize productivity and efficiency within the manufacturing facility

Coordinate plant activities through the planning with departmental managers to ensure the total manufacturing objectives are accomplished in a timely and cost-effective manner

Implement cost effective systems of control over capital equipment, operating expenditures, manpower, wages and salaries

Manage capital asset maintenance

Establish and monitor analytics for overall plant performance for production and quality standards

Participate in the design and implementation of new processes, equipment, and facilities

Work on process improvement projects aiming to reduce delivery times and manage their implementation in the plant

Ensure all work is performed in compliance with all regulatory requirements (GMP, health & safety, and company policy)

Rethink methods of manufacturing products in order to reduce costs

Control and minimize labor overtime, quality issues and repair expenses

Maintain existing plant facilities and equipment; replace, or make adjustments to plant facilities and equipment when necessary

Participate in crafting the plants process and written procedures, including but not limited to, operational procedures and quality control procedures

Provide leadership and training to accomplish the company goals and objectives

Implement and maintain preventative maintenance programs

Incorporate shop floor organization and plant cleanliness among plant personnel

Provide direction, coaching, development and leadership to supervisors


3-5 years in a similar capacity of manufacturing/production manager in pharma, food or cosmetic mfg

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or in related field and/or five years plant/general management experience in a manufacturing environment.

Certification in Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement preferred (e.g. Six Sigma)

P. Eng. certification an asset

Proficiency in MS Office, MRP
